Research Assistance and Instructional Support

Contact your subject librarian to:

  • Discuss ways to address information literacy issues and skills in courses and assignments
  • Schedule hands-on instruction in library resources, research skills, or information literacy
  • Get library research assistance
  • Discuss other types of support Trexler Library can offer

Borrowing and Interlibrary Loan

Faculty may generally check out books for the length of the semester and videos/DVDs for 7 days. (Loan periods for other materials vary.) Faculty may appoint students to be proxy borrowers. Inquire at the Circulation Desk about deputy cards.

Materials not available from Trexler Library can be requested from other libraries using interlibrary loan request forms, through Encompass Search, or from within databases. Visit the Interlibrary Loan section (under Services) on the library website for links and information. For questions concerning the status of requests, contact Kristin Brodt in the Interlibrary Loan office at illd@muhlenberg.edu or 484.664.3510.

Databases, Journals, and Searching for Library Resources

The Encompass Searchtab on the library’s website searches across Trexler Library’s collection, as well as other libraries’ resources. Use Encompass Search for: comprehensive access to books, journals, and videos; selected access to articles; and more.

Trexler Library offers numerous online periodical and reference databases, links to selected open-access sources, and more. Check the library’s website for full lists.

Resources by discipline can be found on the library’s website under Subject Guides.
