Embodied Learning in a Digital Space
In this workshop, Holly Cate (Theatre), Matthieu de Wit (Neuroscience), and Megan Flynn (Dance) will share their approaches to — and the value they find in — creating embodied learning opportunities in our current online teaching environment. Benefits of embodied activities include, but are not limited to, building community, facilitating peer-to-peer learning, facilitating learning by doing, disrupting the tendency of the computer screen to induce passivity in students, and battling feelings of isolation in both students and teachers. The workshop will also include an opportunity to discuss ways of experimenting with embodied learning activities in your specific teaching context, regardless of the discipline in which you teach.
